SpeakerTom Gregorkiewicz

Tom Gregorkiewicz is a full professor of Optoelectronic Materials at the Van der Waals – Zeeman Institute of the University of Amsterdam. He earned his PhD (1980) at the Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences on the subject of defect spectroscopy in silicon. In 1989 he has joined the faculty of the University of Amsterdam. He is also professor on personal title by nomination of the President of the Republic of Poland, and a guest professor of the Osaka University. He serves as an editor of the NPG journal Light: Science & Applications. His current scientific interests concern optical properties of semiconductor nanostructures with an eye on possible applications in optoelectronics, photonics and photovoltaics. The primary focus of his work is on optical spectroscopy of nanostructured silicon and recently also on nanocrystals of inorganic perovskites. He is a research group leader and an academic teacher on both undergraduate and graduate levels. To date he has published over 250 papers in refereed journals and has given more than 100 invited seminars and presentations at international meetings. He organized several scientific conferences and symposia and is a member of multiple advisory and supervisory boards. abstract
